Serving Opportunities

We have lots of opportunities to serve that help us engage into the life of our church, and there is something for everyone! Check out our current opportunities in the ministries of Hospitality, IMPACT, Family, Campus, Care,  and Missional Living.  See something that piques your interests? Hospitality Ministries

Hospitality is about receiving and loving people right where they are. It creates a space where the stranger can experience the "contrast community" of the church as it previews and proclaims the Kingdom of God.

Do you have the desire to embrace the power of welcome? This team is the warmth and welcome of Oak Hills Church. We are the first point of contact for many and strive to create space for anyone to experience Jesus.

Serve for special events, including dinners, lunches, and funeral services. Assisting with setup, food prep, and cleanup is a fun way to serve our community.

Who isn’t a little happier with some caffeine in their veins? The OHC baristas serve before both services Sunday mornings. Commit to a shift a month to help spread the joy with a warm smile and hot cup of joe!

This team provides yummy hospitality, by shopping, cutting and plating the Sunday morning food that is served in between services.

IMPACT Ministries

IMPACT exists to worship God through an inter-generational community of artists, using our creative gifts and passions to express our faith, encourage the church, and glorify God.

Do you have the gifts of cooking and hospitality? Each Breakfast Team member provides a light breakfast (simple or fancy) about 4-5 times per year to our Tech and Worship Teams on Sunday mornings.

Without the Tech Team, we wouldn’t be able to see, hear, communicate, or broadcast our church services. Consider being a part of our sound, lighting, multimedia, camera, or livestream techs—one of the most vital ministries in our church. Bonus: You get the best seat in the house!

Do you have musical gifts and love the Lord? Worship is one of the highest callings of the Christ follower, and one of our important expressions of worship is through our gatherings on Sunday mornings.

Do you have an eye for decor and stagecraft? We are looking to put together a team to help with stage design to better reflect our worship throughout the year.

We often have opportunities for special projects involving videography, podcasting, web design, and music production. If you have a “very particular set of skills,” please let us know!

We are always looking for talented visual artists that can be featured in our art gallery.

Helping prepare or serve the communion elements is a beautiful way to care for our Oak Hills community. Commitment is usually once a month and special events.

Family Ministries

Family Ministries exists to inspire, empower, and equip family discipleship under Christ, recognizing the importance and contribution of the child, God given foundational role of parents, and the communal role of the church. Being a part of this vital ministry not only means you have an impact on the lives of children, youth, and their families, but it connects you with other volunteers who love God and each other.

We want all our classrooms to be well staffed on Sunday mornings! Commit one to three times a month during the 9:00 or 11:00 services.

Not just a team but a family! Commit weekly to Sunday evening youth group for high school and middle school and Sunday mornings for middle school.

Commit to two hours during the week to assist with curriculum prep, office help, and classroom set-up.

Campus Ministries

The Oak Hills campus—13 acres set in the heart of Folsom—is the home to scores of ministries, non-profit organizations, support groups, arts gatherings, classes, and of course the intergenerational, intercultural Oak Hills family. Campus Ministries stewards our buildings and grounds to affect hospitality, outreach, and community to hundreds of people each week.

We value the beauty of our campus, not only because it reflects God’s aesthetic, but because it creates a welcoming environment for all who walk onto our campus. Commitment to one Saturday morning a month to help mow, edge, and weed our campus.

Is the DIY force strong with you? Commit as needed or on a regular basis on Tuesday mornings to help regularly repair, patch, build, and maintain our buildings and grounds.

Just who sets up those chairs and tables each week? Well, it could be you! If you can help with set-up or take-down for our services, any help, no matter how big or small, is always appreciated.

Care Ministries

Care Ministries is dedicated to sharing Christ's love with those in need through spiritual, relational, emotional, and practical support and compassionate care.

Help with practical needs for those requiring assistance like meals, rides, cleaning, shopping, and yard work, as well as encouragement through calls, cards, and more.

Helping with service logistics, set up, clean up, and ushering is a beautiful way to share the love of Christ with those going through a difficult time.

Missional Living Ministries

At Oak Hills, we believe that each one of us is called to serve God in a unique way, in the places we already are and through passions that tug at our heart. This “missional living” has to do with paying attention to where God is specifically calling you to enter in. Through wisdom and discernment, we begin to see our place in God’s Kingdom. And, as we seek to serve and bless others in Christ’s name, we find that we are blessed beyond what we have given—those we serve also serve us in ways we cannot even imagine.

If you would like to learn how to create Kingdom spaces in your context, consider joining our Missional Cohort community.

Commit to making just two to four meals a year for the women and children at the Powerhouse Transformation Center and begin to build relationships and consistency with the beautiful women going through this two-year residential program of empowerment and new life. We so strongly believe in what Powerhouse is doing with the Transformation Center and in the lives of our neighbors there, and we believe this is a great and easy way to serve the needs of our community.

Assist those experiencing homelessness in Folsom toward self-sufficiency and greater independence by working with HART of Folsom. A variety of skills and commitment levels are needed, including: mentors (walk alongside clients, listen, and encourage), outreach (go into encampments to determine needs and share information about HART), media (help manage the website and other social media), health (stay up-to-date on the mental, dental, and physical offerings), and local advocacy (work with the City of Folsom and county and state agencies).

Oak Hills will be hosting the HART of Folsom winter shelter all through January and will be staffing the shelter for one week during that time. We are in need of volunteers each night for overnight supervision, meal provision, and site greeters. This is a wonderful opportunity to tangibly extend the love of Christ to some of our neighbors!

Become a lunchtime mentor or after-school tutor and build relationships with students, helping meet their physical, educational, material, and spiritual needs.

Office Administration

Do you have office skills that you would like to use? Our staff is always looking for administrative help during the week.

Come help us with our weekly administrative tasks.
